New member just joined today. I need help. I have a red cabinet/gray drawer 12 drawer bottom roller Craftsman cabinet from the late 70's that needs work. I can restore all except a twisted drawer slides]. Don't know how it got that way as got the box in a used tool deal. I tried straightening the twisted drawer slide but with poor results as the drawer cannot be opened without excessive force. The silver color drawer slide I need is about 1 1/8" high and about 14 5/8" long and is the friction type (not roller) slide between the drawer and the cabinet. If anyone has two of these slides (both slides have damage on this one drawer) from a scrap cabinet, please contact me. Happy to pay for the slides and shipping cost. Will text or email pictures of the slide to anyone who has spare slides. Both left and right slides are the same. Thank you in advance for your help.

These Craftsman toolboxes were made by Waterloo Industries. According to Waterloo, they are still making Craftsman toolboxes. I'd suggest you try contacting them about a replacement slide (or slides as you might need to replace the opposite side slide on that drawer). Good luck and let us know how it goes.

If you don't get a response, try contacting Waterloo by phone. They manufactured that box for Sears. It's possible that they have replacement slides, but I don't know for sure. Waterloo customer service seems to get good reviews from the members here, even when the parts are no longer available.

You may need measurements and/or photos to help them identify the model number.
The date of manufacture can be found on the bottom front rail, about 7" in from the righthand corner. You'll need to get down on the floor. The stamp may be light, so you may need a magnifying glass and a flashlight at an angle to read it. It will appear as :

MADE IN USA
** - **

(the X's will be numbers. The first pair a month, and the second pair will be the year)

Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

Do a post on the vintage tool box thread and someone might be able to help. Twertsy might have what you are looking for. Post a pic or two as it can help identify the exact model you have.

Waterloos customer service is extremely helpful and I have had great luck with then. I am certain that if you give them a call that they can at least point you in the right direction.
