I recently inherited an air compressor. 500a60 sanborn. I recently got it working around but now I can't get it to hold air or more than 20 psi. I did notice that there's a leak in one of the gaskets on the pump. Would this be my issue or something else?
The motor seems fine and the belt is moving with the motor and pump.

Any help will be greatful

I don't see why a decent gasket maker wouldn't work. I know head gaskets are super finicky but its an air compressor. Might as well give it a try?

You can buy sheets of gasket material at the autoparts store. They have different kinds for heat resistance, fuel resistance. I would assume the ones you use to make carb gaskets would work. The exhaust ones have a metal middle layer which makes them difficult to cut, just an FYI.

Wanted to update everyone that I was able to use 90min gasket maker from my local Walmart. This worked great. I was finally able to get the pressure to build and 120psi before it cutoff, as normal.

Thanks to all who helped.

Instant gasket maker is NOT the right thing to use on a head gasket. It WILL fail after many warm up/cool down cycles. How hard is it to make one out of proper gasket material :headscrat
