I have a garage 50' deep, 75' long and 17'6" high. I have r-38 in ceiling and r-19 in the walls with 5/8 sheetrock on the walls & ceiling. epoxy concrete floor and insulated overhead doors. I have overhead radiant heaters that work great but looking into the best ac that will work for this size garage. Any ideas would be a great help. thanks

Reed,

I have three window A/C units in thier own "windows". Basically a hole that fits the A/C. I made the holes bigger in case I ever have to put in a bigger unit.

Each A/C is about double of what is recommended. They say that it's bad to over sizze, since they will switch on and off too much, but I figure that I generated extra heat in the garage when I'm working.

On a 110 day, I can get to 80. I have R19 and R30, 5/8" drywall in a steel building. Yours is even better!

Total Cost $800 for all three, a 12,000btu, a 16,000btu and a 25,000btu. I'd say a pair of 25,000BTU units at either end is the least expensive option. Then add some ceiling fans to stir things up

You need to get some out, to run a manual J ( cooling load) and manual D (duct sizing) calculations on your building. ( if I was guessing and it would be a guess) I would say about 5 tons of cooling depending on the heat input you planing on generating, and your humidity levels. If the space is open you can get away with a very simple duct system ( put the air handler in the center of the building) and run one supply duct each way and most likely 1 or maby 2 returns. There is no way I would run window shakers in a building your size. They may be the cheapest to buy but they are the most $$$ to run....
You can see the 5 ton system I put into my 5000 sq ft building in the link below.

William....

REFLEXX - that looks like an extremely clean install that I might want to duplicate someday. Do you happen to have any pictures of what it looks like on the exterior?

Thanks,
Scott
