Need ideas for boathouse garage door

I have a boathouse that currently has a rollup door installed. I want to raise the door opening a few feet and get a new door as the current one can't be raised much more and it is very loud when the wind rattles it and I plan to live above. I have a boat hoist inside so I can't have a standard overhead door. I also have a ton of barn swallows that nest under the house and am going to have to put minnow netting around the perimeter of the boatwell/garage door to keep them out of the interior. I would rather not have a few feet of netting hanging down dripping water every time I drive my boat in and out of the garage.

I think carriage style doors that open outward would work great. I can't find them anywhere though. Can anyone point me in the right direction where to find these? I am all ears if anyone has other ideas.

Thanks for any input.

Horizonal hinged bi-fold doors
Do a search on "hanger doors"

Do you have enough room to slide them sideways? We did a job on Otsego lake that was two doors, slid them sideways on regular barn tracks and used a Liftmaster commercial opener designed for two sliding doors. As for the door, their carpenter re-used the existing doors after assembling the pieces on rigid frames. Your door is small enough to make it a single, and if you don't have enough room on the inside you may be able to slide it outside.

Carriage doors are a great idea...In theory. However the practical application of it is very difficult and is compounded by the fact that you want them installed on a floating boat house, hanging over the water. It will take a shop skilled in fabrication to make that happen for you. The reason you don't see them is because it is very cost prohibitive to use them vs a standard roll-up door.

I found a pic of what I envision (probably minus the windows). Will post after I have 5 posts.

Hot Rod kind of dampened my optimism with his post though. I called a local shop and they told me my best bet is to have a finish carpenter make them.

His is the company that built the doors on my garage, and did the doors for Atomic Industries world headquarters. Unfortunately I just learned that the man who started the company and built mine passed away in 2011. It looks like a friend of his took over the business and moved it to Montana. Their work is beautiful and the prices were better than anything I could find locally.
