Need ideas on ventilating new workshop

First year with a new heat pole barn. Northeast. Has 2" closed cell and r30 ceiling fiberglass. One insulated overhead door and a single man-door. Finished sealed heated space is 28x40. Heated with modulated infrared tube.

Attached to shop is 42x40 unheated storage.

The shop is sealed up tight. So tight when I am welding or painting or having a cigar, I have to open a door to clear the air.

I could put in a fan and turn it on and off, but I figure there must be some sort of passive system I can install that will exchange the air on a regular basis without lowering the temps too much that I am heating the outside.

One idea I had was to open the attic door a crack and let air rise out into the unheated portion which is very ventilated.

It may sound crazy or cheap but I had the same problem. I installed a larger but quiet bathroom fan and put in a exhaust tube check valve or whatever you want to call it. I turn it on when I start to weld and off after I am finished and the air is clear. It does not seem to lower the garage temp fast but it does remove the welding smoke although it does take a little bit but I am not welding continueiously and it keeps up great

Yes. You want a HRV. (Heat Recovery Ventilator) I have on in my attached garage for code-required CO removal and have it wired to the lights to run whenever I'm in there working.

It sounds like you might want a milti-speed model that you can turn up when needed. The low speed settings exchange air slowly.
