Hey fellas I'm new here and am happy to have found this site, looks to be full of great info. I am finally at the point where I am gonna say screw it and build a shop! I have an old farmhouse and want to build a board and Batten pole barn garage. My approxmate dimension is gonna be 30x50. I want 3-4 Garage doors on the weight bearing wall. Maybe a 4-12 or 5-12 roof? I am trying to invision it so if any of you have any input or pics of shops that may be close to this idea I would love to see them. Thanks for the input fellas.

I need to add new pics, but I did something similar recently. 32x52 with a few doors under the eaves and 4x10 HardiPanel sheets with 1x4 battens every 48"

Mines not a pole barn, but it is of the board and batten design. I used "Hardi" instead of cedar also.

Hey there,

I don't know where you are located but have heard good things about C B Structures, Inc. They sale Conestoga Buildings and Dutchway Pole Barns and are located in the Mid Atlantic Region. I believe their websites are www.conestogabuildings.com and www.dutchwaypolebarns.com I understand they also have a turnkey operation called Doubletree Structures if you are looking for electrical, etc.
Might be worth checking out.

Here's mine that I built a few years ago. It's 24 x 32.I designed it to resemble a barn just down the road from me. It has 12' sidewalls,and a 9' ceiling height inside. The roof pitch is 8 /12 .Makes for a huge bonus space above.

Geeze thats a beautiful shop thanks for the pics. Love the doors did you build them from scrath? How do they seal up in the winter? Thank you.

I assume your speaking of the garage doors, and not the closet doors in the shop, but here's info on both;
Garage doors:
There are 5 garage doors total, all Wayne Dalton brand, all with Lift-Master electric openers, key pad outside openers, all are insulated exterior doors with "decorative" hinge and carriage style door pull hardware.
They do a very nice job sealing in the winter, as the rear portion of the garage is heated with in floor radiant tubes.
Closet doors:
These doors do not lead to the outside. There are 7, Home Depot sourced, 5 light frosted glass doors, painted black, back light illuminated with switched recessed cans in storage spaces, doors mounted on sliding tracks - no doors open into the work space.

Hope that helps...
Cheers,

Here's a couple of older pics of my work in progress. Although it's not a pole barn it does have the board and bat siding from rough sawn yellow pine. Wanted something that would eventually weather and look like it has been there a long time.

Super inexpensive! You can use ungroved t-111 and just nail on strips or just add strips over the plywood sheathing and paint. No siding needed. It is the most inexpensive way to build and looks nice when done. The painted plywood and pine strips make a very nice look. Ungroved t-111 is pretty pricey.
