Hi Everyone,

Here in Britain, in my School at A-level age (17/18), we do a thing called an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification): we have to either produce something and do a presentation or write a 5000 (!!!) word essay.
I have decided to make something, but am not sure what yet.

Is there any tool that is not made that would be useful in a workshop? An everyday garage problem that needs solving? A type of ratchet that hasn't been made yet?

I always thought a dispenser under the hood with rags for checking the oil, or an electric shock seat to remind the wife her car is due for an oil change

Radiator drain plug sockets work great for wing nut sockets. I use my one socket all the time on the belt tensioner on hondas. Because in hondas infinate wisdom they use a wind nut on the belt tensioner. Very stupid!!!

How about a wall hanging shop rag dispenser and dirty shop rag holder built as one unit. The dirty rags go in and the complete bottom opens to take them out. For the clean ones, the complete top opens so you can drop them all in without folding them to begin with, and a slot in the bottom to allow you to pull out one at a time. Made out of diamond plate would be nice, or smooth aluminum that is powder coated, OR powder coated diamond plate.

one further........ electric shock to wife as a reminder if car makes new squeak, rattle, noise, is not the reason to turn up the tunes.

A blinker fluid funnel. I can't ever ring that tiny hole.

Add a "Made in USA" stamp for extra credit. :D

Probly billions of dollars spent annually on garage stuff. Be kinda hard to make a totally new product. Really, same problem for all you've listed. Might have to improve an existing product. There's way too many to choose from. So it would have to fit your interest, and skill level. Daunting task at any rate. To build from scratch, from concept, to product is not usually simple. Are you trying to get to the top of the class, or just trying to keep up?
Fifteen pages huh? Don't sound too bad to me.
