I have been eyeballing an older waterloo magnum on cl recently
http://lincoln.craigslist.org/tls/4197744678.html

The Good, SWMBO has offered it up as an Xmas present
The Bad, I cannot find any info on the box

I personally like the setup with the storage on the backside.
The closest model i have found is a more modern # mg4607, but the 4607 appears to have a wider "side" cabinet. as well as a full length top drawer. What little info on older waterloo's i have been able to piece togethor, the 6x2 casters are the way to go.

So if anyone has any info on that box such as drawer sizes, weight capacity, that kind of stuff. or any advice such as "stay away, far away" "Decent Price" or "What are you waiting for!!"

Thanks in advance

The older Magnum's are nice boxes. I forget exactly what they parallel. Just a heads up, that is a friction slide box, but a very heavy friction slide box at that. The bottom and I think top drawer should have dual slides. I want to say they were parallel of some of the older mac/matco boxes, but don't quote me on that.

The drawers I THINK are ~30" wide*18" deep. That box reminds me of the snap on taco wagon.

As for price, if everything works like it should and YOU like the layout, I'd say it is fair to good. Me personally I don't like the back openings as you can't put the box up against a wall. That is in the price range of the well respected 44" HF bottom, which is all ball bearings and brand new. Sorry, I realize that wasn't very helpful, but was what little I know

Magnums were top of the line and close to tool truck quality. In this day and age we forget waterloo was once a good box company. I have never seen a box like that so I would guess it to be one of the earliest models, possibly mid 80's. I don't think you can wrong with that price.

I'm ok with friction slides, my snappy kr537/557 combo has them, and this won't be used in a pro shop. When I got my snap on combo it was between that and the HF 44. I'm looking for something with more bulk storage then the HF, several project motorcycles as well as other hobbies

When I first saw it I thought taco cart as well.

Yea if you like the layout and it works like it should condition wise, I'd go with it. I could see them being a nice island or peninsula with 4 or 3 sides open.
Got any pics of your SO 537/557 setup? Those are cool boxes.

Of course, I like showing it off. It spent the first 30 years of its life in a john deer shop. I got the 3 piece set, 557/537/274 for $450, hoping to find a 547 for it.
