Hello all, I recently purchased a Burgmaster 6 turret still from an auction. Not knowing these tools very well I am unsure how to install a vise and which vise will fit. I noticed that in the photo of the auction this drill press did have a vise on it but I think someone took it. There is a heavy top plate with a ton of threads in it. Then Uber that it has 2 slides for what looks like a vise. Can someone steer me in the right direction of a vise thatbeill work for me.

The vise shown looks like a Heinrich Gripmaster, not that it really matters. With that type of production table, it was assumed you would drill and tp the table for whatever vises or fixtures you wanted to mount.

Don't know anything about the drill press but oxtool on u-tube has a segment on one.

I do agree with 454 that you can put any machine vise on there, or a dedicated fixture. This machine was designed to do the same operation over and over. The operator would fix a part, do up to 6 operations and then replace and repeat.

Did you get the manual? The re is a service manual forsale on Amazon that the moment.

https://www.amazon.com/Burgmaster-Turret-Drill-Service-Manual/dp/B009I4SS1W

On my Burgmaster 0b, the turret head lubrication is call out as Mobilcompound
DD. This is no longer available. But the equivalent is ISO 320 gear oil (non synthetic). McMaster Carr sells it in gallon and quart quantites. Amazon has it in 5 gallon buckets.

I highly recommend flushing out the turret head lubrication. I drained, refilled, and ran cycle 2x to get the oil coming out clean.

Good luck!

I see, now it makes sense. I appreciate all the input! I'll buy some of that oil right now as well.
