I have a 53 year old metal Butler building . I am putting some skylights on the roof and the original bolts in the building are 5/16 X 1 with insulated washers on them. They are self tapping bolts.

I have a few but need probably 100 to finish the job. I completed one yesterday and it worked out perfect. I could not believe how bright the shop is in the area it was installed.

I have looked everywhere for a bolt this size but all I find are #12 screws. The purlin all have 5/16 holes already in them and this is what I would like to put back. Any suggestions appreciated on where I could find some bolts like this. Tom

Find a local metal building supplier. This is where YOUR location becomes important.

We have a local metal place and he has never heard of these bolts. All they sell is the #12 ones. I assume that is what metal buildings are be constructed with today. I had already looked on Grainger's website and no go. I will give the link a try and see if I find those bolts. Thanks

Self tapping has taken over.
You are going to have to buy them seprate and put together when installing.
