My wife's sewing table and laundry room is lit by a four bulb, T12 fixture. With 5000K bulbs she's happy with the light. Eight foot ceilings. Room is mostly unfinished so not a lot of painted surfaces to reflect light.

Unfortunately the fixture is causing IR interference with the remote system for our adjacent theater room. Our entire system is up in a custom soffit near the fixture in the sewing area. We've spent quite a bit of time trouble shooting and attempting to shield the remote system from the interference with minimal success. So I'm going to move the current fixture out into my shop and start over with a new LED fixture. I don't want to attempt to convert this one.

We do not have Costco or Home Depot in our area. I checked out the selection at our local Lowes and couldn't find a fixture that came with bulbs in the 5K range. We do have a Menards but at this point I'd rather just order something.

Any suggestions? From reading other threads I'm a bit concerned a four bulb LED equivalent may be too bright? Any advice on that?

Too bad there's no HD in your area, can't you order online? I just bought 2 LED replacements for T8 flouresent (which I assume T12's are). They cover T8 and I thought T12, however they are pricey and not any brighter, $25.00 per bulb.

All of my shop lights were ordered from Home Depot and there is one two hours away but I rarely have a need to head that far.

Can you post a link, SKU or product number for what you used?

Just noticed my thread title and thread body may not go hand in hand.

I'm looking for a replacement for the entire fixture. I just replaced the ballast in the fixture and currently have more T12 bulbs than I have fixtures. If I convert the current one that's four more bulbs to store.

And more light is always welcome in my shop so I'd rather just move this one and get a new LED fixture for the sewing area.

Well, if you can't find an all in one option locally then you can just buy a cheap empty 2 bulb fixture. Then grab a couple of bulbs from earthled as they have a few options under 17$ each.

IF you don't mind your fixtures, you can buy direct wire bulbs and just pull the ballasts. You can use either t12 or t8 sizes as they use the same size prongs on the bulbs.

Thanks everyone. I went to Menards yesterday and they had LED retrofit bulbs. Both the type that work with the ballast and those that require it be bypassed.

Unfortunately it was only the former type that were in stock in 5000K so I didn't buy any.

Thinking things over I've softened my stance on retrofitting the existing fixture. I'll check some out at EarthLED.

Is your T12 ballast one of the old heavy magnetic kinds, or one of the newer electronic ones? Just be advised that the LED's also have drivers (same thing as a ballast) and it's possible that you could have the same issue with them.
Can you post a part number of the ballast that you have in the fixture now? I'll check to see if there's a frequency difference.
