I just had a 40x50x16 shop built and am looking for lighting suggestions for the 16' tall part. Some of the shop will be a loft so the lighting will be closer to the floor but maybe a 20x40 run will need high lights.

I have access to some warehouse lights, think they are the sodium lights? Large, round and very white light. I have one I put up temporarily and the light seems very focused but it is about a foot lower than it would be mounted. Is there much bleed over with them?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you have "very white light", then you have metal halide lamps. From your description, it sounds like they would need to be mounted much higher than 16' in order to deliver good even illumination. Having pools of light will become very annoying to you if you intend to do work in the space.
What's your budget for the lighting?

That's what I was afraid of, the light being too concentrated. I don't really have a budget for the light but I don't have much left after paying for the building. I was hoping I could get the high lights for under $500.
