When I worked in a welding shop (30 years ago), we had a collection of cardboard posters on one wall. They listed beams of X size in 10, 20, and 40 ft lengths and the load they would carry with the deflection listed. The dozen or so we had were for all common beams, columns, and trusses in common configurations and handy info. Simple. I understand printed tables on paper.

I have looked around likely places. I find foreign language stuff and calculators for building specific structural applications. Some are illegible on my ancient tablet. My math is pretty weak for a straight up formula.

Anyone know a simple, simple calculator or chart for a beam supported on one end or both ends? The calculators for bridges, etc are too complicated.

Some of the problems that I don't know how to advise about how to tabulate are:

- what's appropriate deflection (?)
- what is an appropriate safety factor (?)
- design using A-36 or A-50 steel (?)

The basic stress and deflection formulas are the simplest I know, its all right in there, then someone has to make decisions based on the results.
