I'm not sure I follow; are you talking a wall shelf above the MIG cart's parking spot, or adding onto the MIG cart? If the latter, is it going to get top heavy?
Need more storage room. Help

What's all that open floor space B.S. I see?Didn't you hear, floor space is constantly trying to escape, you must weight it down with something to prevent its escape.
Nice garage manAgain, love the wall of SO boxes.
I think this is really the key to maximizing space, try then try again. Although usually it is not fun in a garage as most things are super heavy and awkward to move.
i was doing some late spring cleaning, my trail truck was out in the driveway getting a suntan.
it's typically parked where the big oil stain on the floor is at
the only time i can do much cleaning up, or rearanging is when the old lady, and her car, are gone, and i can move the blazer out of the way.
i have a narrow single lane driveway that buts up to the house on one side, and a fairly steep slope (30*-40*) on the other side, & approx 9 ft to my property line.
the driveway is really the only thing i dont like about this house, and the fact that the garage is only 20 ft behind the house
i had originally planned (by now) to be able to build a new larger (30d x40w) garage behind this one, then demo the exisiting garage keeping the concrete pad intact for outside parking.
will probably never happen
and i cant afford to pay rent on a shop again, i had a place a few years ago, that was close by, and fairly cheap, when the economy tanked, my "partners" and i decided to sell off all our spare parts, some equipment, and move "back home" to our garages.
so i'll work with what i have to work with.

Trying to be helpful. What if you turned the mig 90° to it points out and then roll the stick in next to it so it is 90° from the wall. Opening up another storage spot. I still think you would benefit from switching the cman and snap on tool boxes around. Maximizing space is all about trial and error.

Turning the mig would have it sticking out about 15 inches bast the shelf edge
I didn't gather that from the pics. Thought I would throw it out there, was just thinking out loud, which is usually never good.

If you want to "stack" them on the same cart I would think you are going to want the stick welder on the bottom. It would be way to top heavy on top.
I could see a cart built for the stick on the bottom and the mig on top.

Does it matter if it stick out past the shelves? I have my welders out in front of my shelves. Just put stuff you don't use often on shelves behind them. They aren't that big of deal to move out of the way if need be.
I would also agree with the other poster that said to get rid of the slot wall. In my opinion peg board and slot wall are a big wast of space.
Put up regular shelves, get some bin boxes and label them. Or, put up some cabinets with doors if you prefer.
Stuff you use often keep where you can get to it easy. Stuff you don't use often put up high or behind the other stuff. Keeping things labeled is a big help.
Another thing I noticed was your wire reel rack. It looks to me that it takes up a lot of wall space for the amount of wire that it holds. The hose clamp organizer is the same thing. A wall hog. Put the stuff in bin boxes and on a shelf.
Shelves are the best bet when used properly.
Here are a couple shots of my layout. It's about a 2-1/2 car garage. You will see that I use all available space!
I am a huge shelf fan. Especially Lozier brand. They can hold a few hundred pounds per shelf. Watch for them on Craigslist, etc. I bought a lot of mine when stores had closed. I've had them for 25 years plus.
PS: My Grandfather built the wood workbenches himself back in the 50's. I was so happy when my dad let me have them.

About 15 years ago "I knew a guy" who knew a rep. He ordered me in empty cabinets at cost. I'm glad I bought them now. I think I have only 2 empty drawers left.

That is a 3-1/2 I believe. It weighs something like 40 pounds.
A friend bought 10 of them years ago at a surplus store for 20.00 each.
They were military surplus by the writing on the boxes.
When he offered me one I said "Heck yes, it would look great on the wall."
I always thought that someday I'd take it in and get in chrome plated !
