Well looks like I need a 5hp motor for my Quincy. This is a motor I have laying about, if I'm reading the plate correctly this one is only good for 8" bench grinder?

Well if I'm reading the plate right, that's a 1.5hp motor... so that could cause a few... problems.

I'm gonna guess you probably need a 184T frame motor, too.

firebox, That's what I read too, and at 19+ amps, that must be a government motor, lol...Why such pull? Old?

I will try for a Baldor 5hp 184T 1725rpm, I think, will check with GD too. Thanks, will garage sale this heavy thing.

Old motors are not as efficient and draw more amps than modern models. 1.5 isn't going to run much of a compressor and you need a 5 for that QR.

More amps = better motor, IMO. :D

It's only 10A @ 220v anyway... the 5hp old GE I have draws 25A at 220v... not too far off in the scheme of things.

I stole that one off fleabay for a whopping $100, plus an hour drive to go get it. Much better than spending more for a newer, lighter duty motor.

Weg is cheap good. Better than marathon or dayton. Lincoln is premium. Like Toshiba premium. Baldor is good but the same as like a leeson IMO.

Most of WEG motors have either a 1.15 or 1.25 service factor that's why i like them. great motor for a good cost.
