Looking for a good resourse to buy (order) new drill index. I really want some quality bits that will last. I noticed that Harbor freight has a 115 piece (cobalt) for $99 sounds very cheap for a set that big. I guess you get what you pay for. Thanks for your input..

Go to your local industrial supply place....they tend to sell your best drill indexes

I bought a set off ebay that looks exactly like the HF TiN-coated set. I paid around $29. What a mistake.

They will drill very soft wood and plastic, but that's it. The smaller ones bend if you yell at them. They don't even snap, they just bend.

If you really want quality bits, look to local suppliers like dink suggested, or shop online at MSC, Enco, or McMaster-Carr.

Google this: Magnum Super Premium.

Have heard very good things about these. 1/2 inch shank which is three sided. Sound pretty good.

I personally get my bits locally at a machinist supply place. Unless your out in the country you should be able to find a place locally. My place has very good prices but your experience may vary.

I got the 115pc index from a local tool supply. I don't remember the cost, maybe $50 or $60. I later needed another set for home, so I ordered MSC's budget set for $39.95. Identical set. These have held up way better than I expected. I drill nothing but steel w them, usually mild CRS

That didn't work, either. I swear they are made from coathanger wire.

I can deal with it if I snap a drill bit, especially a small one. The fault is mine.

Drill bits that BEND?...that's another story.
