Ok, I have an attached garage that is 25x26, I want to add onto it and also a second floor above it which will be living space. I have options, I can add up to 35x25 onto the garage and have the same size living space above it. This would be the easiest because all I would have to do is remove the existing wall between the garage and the new space. Or I can add just 25 feet onto the garage and take the ceiling out above the existing garage to get the amount of living space I want. This would require me removing the ceiling, trusses and roofing for the new living space. It would also require some support beams installed in the existing garage.
I’m leaning toward the 35x25 solution. This would also give me access to the space above the electrical panel.
BTW, if I just add onto the garage it would be 1600 square feet, the house right now is 1400. Wife wants more space.
