Need opinions on workshop / garage

Been looking at this type of building for a workshop. Local place sells this 20x25x8 with one roll up door and a man door for $3710.00 with free install and delivery. Anyone using this type of building for their garage / workshop? And advice? Or any pics you can share on yours would be great.

I already have a 4" 20x25 slab that I had poured for a garage. But just cannot afford the $15k to $20k price to build a wood & shingle roof workshop.

Do you have the skills to build your own garage ? If so, try figuring out the cost to build your own. You may find it's not going to cost you what you think, 15-20 grand.

If you can get the shell built, roofed and sided. You can finish the inside as your funds allow. I've done many projects on the house and garage using my HD card. 6 months interest free makes doing projects easier sometimes.

I would get it taller to allow for a lift later on ..... just in case.

That sounds like a great price. Can you elaborate on the design and materials? I am guessing that it has metal tubing studs/supports and the same for the roof. Does it include the doors? What part of the country are you in? The reason I ask is will there be a lot of high winds or heavy snow loads. You won't build one yourself for that kind of money. I don't see anything wrong with it. It is a low cost alternative and something you can afford now.

Yes, what are your skills? I built my own 18x24 garage for around 5K including concrete. I built my 24x48 garage for around 10K including the 3K for concrete. A good wood frame building is the way to go if you do your own work.

A 20x25 wood frame building should be doable under 5k because you already have the concrete, but only if you do all the work yourself.

Building skills = non-existent...lol

I live in deep South Texas, so no snow...lol. And the building is rated for 110mph winds. We have had several hurricanes in our area and I have yet to see one of these buildings suffer any damage.

Other question is how would you insulate a building like this?

Since you live in TX and heating it is not a big issue the only thing you need is called a radient barrier insulation. It has a plastic bubble type material with shiny foil on at least one side and foil or white vinyl on the interior side. It generally has an r8 heat retention BUT most importantly it keeps the building much cooler in the summer and eliminates almost all condensation. The best way to install it is in between the metal skin and the support structure. Check with the builder and see if they have it available. If not you can buy it in many places including the internet. It is not that expensive.

I'd go with that - pretty decent price. I'm DIYing a 24x40 and we're going to be $13.50~$14 per sq/ft when done. I gots the tools to do it - sliding miter, air nailers, and some "done it" which helps a lot.

For just a 20x25 frame up, I'd guess 8~10 sq/ft. On the low end, that's $4K. And they assemble while you sip iced tea and point? Well.

I was going to do my slab - dirt work, rebar, etc. I figured $1000 in materials to do that. When I got a quote for the whole job for a little over $4000, I said "when can you start."
