Need paint gun input

I am looking to buy a new paint gun. I've not been very pleased with the spray quality of my DeVilbiss Starting Line paint gun. It is inconsistent and the pattern has never been as even as I want. I've borrowed my friend's Sata in the past and it is awesome, but he died this summer and that's no longer an option.

I'm looking at this system:

Does anyone have any experience with one of these 3M kits? How is the spray quality? Do the plastic nozzles work as well as a regular metal nozzle? I typically paint one car every 2 years or so, making this something that I want good quality but I can't justify a $1k paint gun for occasional use.

Would I be better off with this Anest Iwata kit:

If shopping by price, stick with a Devilbiss, not a Startline, but a DEV-704532 DV1S
Next up with be the Iwata 4755 W400

My personal guns were Sata, "satajet" 5000 digital RP's, one for Base, one for Clear, with a bunch of Devilbiss for primer and single stage paints. Pricey, you bet, but well worth it in the long run.

Those kits you show above are inexpensive for a reason, forget the marketing on them, and stick with items that paint professionals actually use, even the less expensive items are better than what is thrown in these all in one kits.

The best pro level gun at the current time is the Sagola 4600 Extreme. The Iwata LPH400 with the orange Aircap is a great novice gun as it's not as fast as the Iwata Supernova's or the SATA's. The Sagola with the new Titania cap can do both base and clear extremely well so there is no reason to get two guns. If DeVilbiss is your favorite the best bang for the buck is certainly the Tekna ProLite. A pro level gun that's probably painted 100,000 cars since it was first introduced. It comes with multiple aircaps and nozzle sizes and can handle all sealer, base and clear applications.

For the money the ASTRO Europro Line of guns are fantastic bargains. No plastic seals, spray great and cost slightly more than $100. For base the gold gun is LVLP and for clear the blue gun is what in the trade is called a compliant gun (SATA PR or Iwata W400) as it meets the SCAMD 65% transfer efficiency requirements.

The 3M Performance gun is not a bad option as it's by far the easiest to clean and the plastic tips do last a lot longer than I expected them to. Great for primer and sealer, very good for base, in fact the Kandyman uses it as his primary base gun, and adequate for clear but not as good as the better pro level guns. The different sized tips offer a versatility that can't be matched by any other gun as you can spray anything from primer to clear by just changing the tip size. 1.2mm is best for base and clear and the biggest tip size (I think 2.2mm) is perfect for polyester spray filler which is a ***** to clean out of any other gun on the market. I don't use it as a primary weapon as I have over 50 spray guns but for somebody trying to do a job with one gun it's a very viable option.

YouTube has a thousand videos on all of these guns and getting other people’s opinions is always a good idea.
