I have a hvlp sprayer like this, except mine doesn’t have the adjustment knob in front of the air connection at the bottom of the handle. It has done ok, but just ok. Biggest concern is i don’t get a lot of spray out of the tip. It’s 10+ yrs old and i think i paid $20 so maybe it’s time for a replacement.

Currently repainting porch rockers, using oil base enamel. I thinned it with acetone per the label, and the paint is like thick water ... not as fluid as water, but better than the straight paint. In fact it’s thin enough that it drips off the touchup brush very easily.

So … what can i adjust to increase the paint flow?

Well, first of all where do you have the fluid adjustment knob set on the back of the gun. This el Cheapo HF gun comes with a 1.4mm tip which should be fine for the thinned out paint you're using. Here's how you adjust the fluid. Turn the fluid all the way in, at this point the trigger will not move. Back out the fluid adjustment until the trigger goes all the way back. At this point the knob on the back will just about fall out. Pull the trigger all the way back. Turn in the fluid knob until you can feel it hit the trigger. This is what's called full fluid. If that doesn't work take the rubber band off of your roll of hundred dollar bills and buy a new gun.

Ok, i have the fluid knob just about all the way out. Another full turn and it will fall off. I had not thought about pulling the trigger and screwing in the knob. I’ll try that, thanks for the advice.
