Need paint to match the HF gloss red...

Has anybody found a paint to match HF gloss red? I'm planning a workbench build and thinking I might put together some deep slide drawers for my power tools. I like would like to color match it to a 13 drawer box thats going in it to.

Home depot will match anything in latex. Auto paint stores will do the same with expensive automotive paints.

home depot! they won't match, they give you only what the computer tells them. go to a Sherman williams or Ben Moore store, bring in a piece of the color you need and they will match it.

In regards to the paint match, on the 4x6 bandsaw yahoo group they have the sherman williams formula for the HF bandsaw red. But I don't think the HF bandsaw is gloss.

I'll check out Rustolium Red....Nice work on the door,There was a thread on a another forum where someone painted a 69 Charger with a roller and it looks like a high dollar job.

I was looking for the same thing just yesterday. I wanted to paint some of the wood trim in the garage to match the HF red. I took a corner bracket off my HF roller service cart into Lowe's. They put it into the spectrometer but the glossy metal reflected as much light as it absorbed so they couldn't get an exact match.

My wife and I looked through hundreds of their sample paint color chips and we chose Valspar Classic Red #1009-2 in latex gloss finish. This worked fine for brushing on wood trim pieces and matches very well. If you are looking for something to spray on, you will probably have to go to a pro paint store.

It depends on where you live, but it is illegal nearly anywhere to put up a temp booth without a permit. I was in a townhouse, no way to do it in a one car garage townhouse without the neighbors smelling/seeing it.

You can't vent paint fumes untreated into the air. If you don't believe me call your local building department. You need approved filter systems, along with approved non-spark vent fans. To do anything else would be illegal, and would endanger both you and your neighbors.

Would I do it in a remote location? You bet. Could I get away with it in the city in a townhouse? Not a chance.

If that were true & I'm sure there has to be limiations, but what are those limits? Makes sense that it's not good to vent paint fumes into the air. So what about all thos spray cans that sell in the stores. What about those who use spray guns?

I've primered my old car once a year, two years in a row. Did it in my garage & I didn't get one complaint from a neighbor or HOA. But I'm not saying that it was allowable just because no one complained.

With curiosity I looked at the link you provided. It states:

My local building department doesn't regulate activities within a given building, only the construction of and improvements to such buildings. They permit and enforce building code, not EPA regulations.

EPA regs like you linked generally have an exemption for personal use.

It's like OSHA, not applicable to the generaly hobbyist or outside of commercial use.
