I had Carolina Carports put up a 24 x 21 x 9 two Novembers ago...vertical roof, gables, and sides...12ga certified, which has 8 uprights and trusses.
I closed the back end with silver tarps from Harbor freight...I drove concrete form pins into the gravel, attached some aluminum angle to the top of the gable crossmember, and used 1" emt conduit for uprights...screwed the tarp to the gable crossmember at the grommets using big flatwashers...used bungees to pull everything tight...
this is second winter, and the tarps still holding up...even with some big winds weve had...
I have about $3500 in the carport

What look are you going for? You can get the standard trailer park all metal carport relatively inexpensive from just about anywhere. If you have plenty of space you can build columns around the post with brick or siding matching your house. There are also cylinder columns that you can wrap around the posts. These extras all increase the price over the basic metal carport.

As for roofing you can do the standard metal roof, composite or tile. It all depends on what you want. The more elaborate/decorative the more expensive.

What are you needs/wants? What dimensions do you have to work with? Any limit/restrictions on height? What vehicles do you plan on parking under it now & any possible needs for the future. Would like for your options to be open if you end up getting a larger/taller vehicle that you may want to park under it in the future.

You may google some images on carprots and come up with more ideas of what you want. As with anything labor will increase the price so if you want to spend some time yourself you can save a bundle.
