I know this isn't for the garage, but I am in a real pickle of a situation. We got new countertops and a new sink for the kitchen yesterday. My issue is the garbage disposal sits about 2 inches Lower now, so that means I have a 2 inch gap between the p trap and the waste line. See photo below

Does anyone have any suggestions before my wife sends me to the dog house?

Thanks

Does the disposal have a 90 coming out of it that the horizontal there attaches to? If so, just cut that 90 off some to regain the height you need. Otherwise just turn the U bend of the trap around.

No there is not a 90 off the disposal. The horizontal goes straight into the t on the other sink.

I wish it was as simple as getting an extension. However the p-trap and the pipe going to the waste like have special flanges. I have not been able to find an extension with this type of flange

not sure if it's just your camera angle but the disposal drain appears to be lower than the drain pipe, so nothing you do will help outside of lowering the drain which will get ugly.

Agree with RWorth. Water doesn't flow uphill.

It's really hard to tell with the camera angles and not being there, but if the left side of the sink is shallower, you could move the disposal to that side and put a plain drain/strainer on the deeper side of the sink and still have gravity working for you.

Yes. That extension will work. The trap has a built in washer.

You will have to buy an addional nut and slip washer

^^^^^ This. The disposal is on the wrong sink basin.

I'm with the move the garbage disposal, makes the sink more user friendly too. Big basin is for washing, not good to have your garbage disposal in the basin that's full of water.

The disposal line is at the same height as the waste line. I see I have two options. 1. Switch the disposal to the other side 2. or see if there is another disposal that has a higher outlet my guess I'll be going with # 1
