What is a good source for quality cable ties or zip ties. In particular I want ~15-inch heavy duty ties. I have searched the internet and everything I find is non-US made and gets questionable reviews.

Panduit is another. Not sure where they're made these days, but they have always been very good.

Thomas&Betts ty-rap.

The "ty-rap" brand is what we use at work. They have the metal tab in them and you never get pull outs. Made in USA.

Yep. Nuthin' but genuine metal toothed T&B Ty-Rap for me, thanks.

I get mine from a race shop down in Speedway. You can order them online from the usual sources.

They are a little spendy but worth it.

Metal teeth are dinosaurs. They were the best option a LONG time ago, but quality modern all nylon tie wraps are stronger. The tooth cuts into the band, reducing overall strength.

Still, T&B Ty-Rap is the best product on the market (they do make many without metal teeth). Also, USA produced tie wraps of all sorts of brands are easily found online. DO NOT buy anything imported, or old stock if you care at all about strength.

...Zipties are one thing I will not buy from HF.

Yeah, exactly. I bought a pack of fluorescent zip ties from HF years ago. Not for tying things, but just to have bright colored ties on stuff to make it stand out (like color coding my checked airline luggage). For that they've worked out well enough.

I've found the Thomas & Betts are hands down the best (at least of the ones I have used) but they are far from inexpensive. Best bang for the buck I have found are the ones from McMaster-Carr. Seem to be good quality at a good price. Early ones from NAPA were good but over the past couple of years I have not been impressed.
