Need reupholstering advice...

Hi all,
Plan on reupholstering a old dining room armchair.
Can't budget to have it done professionally, so I'm apt to give it a try.
Has a removable cushion, but the back is upholstered on both sides, which is then framed in wood.
Any advice on what websites will show a step by step process?
Any web sites that might sell the material, welting and other supplies I might need?
Thanks in advance for your help.

If you have an upholstery shop close, they should be able to help with all the materials. There are several ways that the back could be constructed. Do you have a picture? If you would like, I can take a look and give suggestions. Started in our family upholstery shop in 1972. Still do an occasional job. Mostly just for friends.

Can you post a picture of the chair?

where are you located? I can give you a couple of places and phone numbers for materials but I only know for sure one ships. The other is a local supply.

Hello and thanks for the replies, I would have gotten back to you sooner, but I couldn't figure out how to share the pictures, anyhow, I think I've got it...I hope.

This is the link for the first 3 pictures, one of which shows both with and without the lower cushion.

and this is of the rear of the chair...

btw, I'm in NYC, but also am a short ride over to northern NJ, if there are any places out there.
Thanks much.

Looks like the back of the chair has a double welt? I'm going to guess if you spread the welts you will find staples. If not then I'm going to guess its glued to the fabric that makes up the back of the chair. And I'm thinking that the back is just stapled to the frame also.

As for fabrics you can google Burch Fabrics. I know they ship. They use to have a office here in Dallas but I think it closed. I beleive their warehouse is in MI.

I've used Sunbelt Fabrics but its local (Dallas). I tried to find a website for them but it doesn't work
