Alright. I need to buy a random orbit sander here coming soon. Heres what I need:

Electric, as I do not have a decent air compressor
Reliability
Under $80

I am using this to start my subwoofer box building sidejob. The boxes need to be sanded for final product, and this is the best way to do it... or if there is any other way let me know. I know belt sander, etc. will NOT work.

I know Makita is very high quality. Hasn't Bosch dropped off, with Milwaukee? Port Cable is excellent too eh? And Hitachi? School me here.

So this Makita one looks great - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002FJYE0G/?tag=atomicindus08-20

And this Porter Cable - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000H4ND12/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Also I have interest in this table saw... whatcha think? - used Makita 8 innch portable - http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/tls/2236260031.html

toes,
I've had good luck with Porter-Cable for the last 10 years. We have 2 and they get used frequently.
Mine are an older style than you show in the link and say U.S. made I think.
Things may have changed now :( dunno.

Dewalt, Porter Cable, Bosch are all very solid units. Anyone of them will treat you just fine for what you are doing with it

I've got a Hitachi and have been very happy but the Porter Cables are also very nice. Good. BTW I had a Crapsman that I don't reccomend other than to give to someone you don't like. LOL!

I have a rigid 5" one I love it. 3 people that have used mine have bought them also. Its nice because it will hook up to both the large and small shop vac hoses and it doesn't need a adapter to do so.

I had a PC RO for years. After going through 2 replacement pads due to the hook & loop failing, I decided to pick up a DeWalt.
IMHO, the Dewalt isn't as aggressive as the PC, but it does run a little smoother. It's also a little bigger - but balanced better and maybe a touch lighter.
I probably slightly prefer the PC for use, but because of the quality of the hook & loop pad on it, I'd have to go with the DeWalt if I was forced to buy another one tomorrow.

I bought a Hatachi when I built me wood toolbox. It worked very good, hook and loop and the sawdust bag works great.

Porter Cable 330 Speed-Bloc. I have tried many 1/4 sheet sanders and this is the best by far. $87.97 on Amazon and definitely worth it. I got mine 23 years ago and it still works great. I've replaced the pad a couple times.
