I cannot speak for the ceramic discs, but I will say there is a HUGE variety in aluminum oxide discs.

The Habor Freight aluminum oxide discs are trash, and not worth it. On the other hand, a premium aluminum oxide disc from companies like Pferd, Bullard or Carbo will hold up to a lot of abuse and cut for a very long time.

With cutting discs I've found less difference between materials than I have brands. The brands to buy are Pferd, Walter, Metabo Super Slicer and the ceramic SAIT (which they call Z-something). Leave the big box store **** alone and go to a welding supply store or the Internet to get the good stuff.
