Here is the problem, I am looking for a good heating solution that can be zoned without any hard barriers. In the attachment, I want to initially heat the part that is hashed in red but not the whole thing. That hashed area would be about 900 sqft. I am thinking of installing a R3 curtain to help isolate the air for heat and AC.

So, I am thinking radiant floor would be good, but I am not sure how much will be lost to the other connected zones that are not in use. I want one solid floor so insulating between the zones is not an option. I was also looking into radiant overhead heating but perhaps that would heat the curtain as well?

I also will not need as much heat during the week so that looks better for overhead forced gas compared to the other two solutions for quickly getting to temp.

Needless to say I have flip-flopped more than a politician on this. Ugh help.

Consider a multizone mini split. Phenomenal efficiency, decent price. The new heat pumps work to extreme temps also.

With that said, I believe radiant heating is the most efficient way to heat a space, even if you end up heating more than you originally intended.
