i have a black hawk s13 2 ton floor jack, the rebuild kit is $100 from a hydraulic company which seems high

the jack leaks a little bit and doesnt seem to have the same lift ability it used to

is there something i can start with that a little less expensive than $100, maybe just a seal if i knew which one to buy?

Wow.. Im popular.. LOL i have 2 threads on the first page asking for advice and opinions. I wish i could do some better on that price but my price is right a 100 bucks also. They are Pricey because there is ALottttttt of Packing involved. It could be numerous things, but you would have to tear into it and try and deterine if its the pump seals that are worn or the Ram cup. Maybe if you specify on how its acting differently ie: more pumps to lift etc. I can be of further assistance.

mopar,

Think you could show us a few pics of that S-13 ? I've recently gotten interested in old Blackhawk jacks and I would really like to see one of these. I'm sure there are others here that would enjoy seeing it as well.

Pull the Pump piston and take the Internal oring out and check it for flat spots etc.. You can find a tutorial in my signature at the bottom of this response.

Sounds like it needs a complete Rebuild, As its failing in all areas. I wish i could do better on the price but as i mentioned earlier they are extremely well put together and contain tons of packing.

ok, heres the pics of the jack and the seal for the ram that is all worn out

im assuming that there should be a seal tha hold the oil from returing to the tank as well, but i havent gotten that far yet

first pic is the hole where the seals go, a threaed rind tightens them, then the ram goes in

second pic is the seals looks like they come in layers,

third is the end a few of the seals on the end that are all torn up

where can i buy just these to start

The Seals that are shown is just the outside Packing, Its not designed to hold back any oil to speak off. If you go deeper into the hole you should find another set of vee packing and a another compression nut. You might try just tightening the internal compression nut, which will tighten the seal on the Ram. This might fix the leaking problem and keep your jack from seaping under load.

Mopar,

Did you get your leak to stop? If you get a chance, pics of your complete jack would be nice to see.
