Need some advice -- Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2" Impact

Hey everybody

I finally got in my new Milwaukee M18 FUEL 2763-22 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench & I need some advice on how to show the full power/capabilities of it in my upcoming tool review video.

I made an "unboxing" video today just to show what was inside the case & my initial thoughts. Check it out here -->

Anyway, I have come up with a few ideas for a review video, but would like some more suggestions.

1. Removing a 1 1/2" nut from the bottom of a rusted trailer hitch ball.
2. Driving lags into 6x6's and/or railroad ties.
3. Honda crank bolt (if I do a timing belt on one between now & my review).
4. ?

I currently use an IR2135qtimax & IR2135qtimax2 primarily. My neighbor has an IR W7150 that he swears by, but it failed to remove a nut than my 2135 removed with ease....possibly it wasnt fully charged.

Anyway, any tips/suggestions would be great. I would like to be as informative & non-boring as possible.

Have you got a huge torque wrench? Maybe tighten a bolt to a certain torque and compare with IR2135?

I doubt that gun would remove a Honda crank bolt but it would be interesting to see.

Maybe the milwaukee will, maybe it wont. Id like to see as well. I have an older snap on cordless (1/2 uses the nicad batts) and it wont do it. I did pull the crank pulley bolt off my toyota 3.4L and those are upwards of 200ft-lbs. Hondas are a pain, its not even the torque thats the issue I think-the bolts just like to get seized in there almost.

The two engines where I have trouble with: early 90s Honda Accord 2.2L and the SC300/Supra 3.0L I6. My IR and SO air guns wouldn't do it half the time. Haven't used my Milwaukee on crank bolts yet so I'd be interested too, but I doubt it's any more powerful than my air guns.

little trick for honda crank bolts, or any crank bolt for that matter.
Ive done several supercharger installs using this method.
First get the car warmed up, then turn it off. Take a can of compressed air hold it upside down while spraying so its gets the the crank bolt really frosty. Do this for a minute or 2. After that they come off pretty easy, just a breaker bar will usually do the trick. You still need the Honda removal tool to stop the pulley from spinning though.

Whats the deal with the Fuel tools? I have the normal 1/2" Milwaukee impact and 2 m18 batteries, Can I just get a Fuel impact gun & use my old batteries to enjoy the extra torque? Or I need the tool & fuel batteries?

The Fuel is the newest upgraded version w/the newest generation of Li-ion batteries. To get the power you will see in my video, you would need that gun w/the provided batteries. I have the 2763-22.

Also, the friction ring model (2763-22) has 1100 ft-lbs nutbusting torque. The pin detent model (2762-22) only has 900 ft-lbs nutbusting torque.

Which Honda and how old is the car? The milwaukee will easily remove the V6 and some 4 cyl. crank bolts. It's the older 2.2L that everyone hates!

I bought the 2764 which is 1200 ft-lbs. Milwaukee tools are waaaay more expensive here in the UK. The cheapest price I can find for the 2763 kit is £411 or $685 whereas you guys can buy it for $429. I found a place that was selling the 2764 as a bare tool for £225 or $375 so I went for that as I can pick up the batteries and charger for under $250. I am going to save myself another $100 by just buying one battery as I am only using it for my own car repairs.

QUESTION: How would the wrench do with the 2.0ah battery instead of the 4.0ah?

I already have a 3/4" to 1/2" impact adaptor so will be using my 1/2" sockets on suspension and stuff like that. I will be buying 3/4" sockets for doing axle pulleys and crankshaft bolts so no problem there.

QUESTION: Any idea how much torque I'd lose with an adaptor?

I contacted Milwaukee to ask about the batteries last week. They said that to achieve max torque, you must use the 4.0 batteries. They didnt give me specifics on the power with the lesser battery packs.

Also, I know that there is a significant torque loss when using adapters and/or extensions with impact wrenches across the board, but I do not know specifically how much it would be.

I don't think they make a boot for any of their tools. I got the boot for the W7150 as well(selling it soon), but i don't even care if milwaukee gets a scratch or too now..the polished front on the 7150 got me thinking it needed it. LOL
