Another vote for leaving the front intact. I cannot see the pictures, but the suggestion by Dan_inthewind for three internal sections sounds best to me. If I understand correctly this would give a u-shaped drawer to accomodate the basin.

Yep, front was basically left intact and does have a somewhat U-shaped drawer. Hopefully, you can see the pictures on another computer, this thing came out quite nice.

Very nice work, and the right approach modifying the drawer and not the front.

I did something similar when I re-did our bathroom, modified a new bombay chest.

Fyrme I have done a few of these, the drawer "cutout" works easy and solves the problen of cutting into three sections the middle being just a false front.... but a thought, I use is a pedistal sink set part way in the top...easy to do.......set sink on top ,centered of course .... take a small pencil maybe 2 inch long put in a 1 inch square block of wood 1 7/8 inch long with a hole through it for the pencil run this around the sink putting the tracing of the sink on the cabinet. you can adjust these measurement to get the sink to sit as low as you feel it would look good and be useful, cut out hole with a jig saw set at an angle set sink in and plumb [ I use a silicon bead to hold sink, looks great ] if back of sink shows {wall mounted pedistal} just put a wood back to match furniture and sink profile......

Glad I read the second page before posting my comments....I was ready to write this entire thing off with the "painted black" comments! Final outcome looks great.

The vessel sink idea was brought up. I personally don't like them, but the h.o. does, however the h.o. is only 5'4" tall. I had to cut 2" off of the feet as it is to get the 35" counter height. And regardless if you cut a drain hole or a entire sink hole, you still ruin the top.

The sink stopper was the biggest pita. Since I set the faucet to the side of the oval sink, the stopper stem was about 5" too short. My solution was to drill a set screw in a 1/4-20 coupler and thread a piece of 1/4" round stock to extend the stopper arm. It worked out pretty good.

Fyrme, nicely done. My comment is for anyone contemplating this same job and is just now looking at this thread. The original question and subsequent answers missed one important disadvantage of making the one piece drawer into three pieces, that is how to add drawer guides to the inside sides of the new outside drawers. Got that?
By the way, I did the exact same modification to a chest of drawers years ago. Mine fit exactly between two walls and we replaced the wood top with a site made Corian sink top.
