Friday was the second time I cut drywall out from above my breaker panel to the ceiling in my garage. Instead of putting in new sheetrock, taping and mudding to do this again I was thinking of a creative alternative to give me easy access and still look great.

It is a little hard to see in the picture.

Run some conduit out of the box and into the attic. Cap it off in the attic. If you need to make a couple runs of Romex, just run it down through the conduit.

Yes, the conduit would be behind the drywall in the attic.

Thought of that... Hmm...

When we built my Mom's house we picked a few spots and put some runs of Non-Metallic Tubing in the walls. Ran them into some empty boxes with blank face plates and taped them off in the attic.

If you really just don't feel like redoing the sheetrock I would just run some diamond plate up the wall and mirror it on the other side so it looks like it belongs there.

I'd cover it with a removable sheet metal panel, if you anticipate having to get in there on a regular basis. Paint it to match the wall and it won't be very noticeable.

LOL, I like how you say mirror to make it looks like it belongs there. I have outlets every third stud on the walls all at the same height that I chalklined. A buddy of mine helping me out center the boxes at the chalkline. I pulled them all and re-did them so they were right. Later when I sheetrocked the garage it was super obvious I missed on and it was lower than all the others.

To make it looks like it was intentional it is the only outlet in the garage with a red outlet cover. So if anyone asks why it is lower than all the others I can respond "Why is the outlet cover red?"
