Need some electrical help w/FAN rotary speed switch wiring

I had a nice powerful dayton fan I used a lot around the garage and its chrome was starting to rust and look crappy so I took the fan apart, cleaned it and had my buddy blast and powder coat the case, I took lot of pics when I took it apart but for the life of me the pics have vanished, all that left to do is insert the two power wires back into the rotary switch but I cant seem to get the correct combo Can some look at these pics and tell me where the two power leads go in, its those push in and lock type connections

One of those wires from the plug cable has ridges along the side, it is your neutral, the other one is smooth and is the 'line' or hot.

if you look at the back of the switch you can see it is labeled with: L, 2, 3, and 'splicer' there should be a 1 on there as well but I can't see it in the picture. your line wire go's into the terminal marked with an L, your neutral will go into one side of the splicer terminals.

Cool thanks for the info! I hooked it up as you said and still no go, I am hoping the white box (Vim capacitor) perhaps has a blown fuse in it from one of my previous hook up attempts? Tried to fool with it but have a house full of grandkids my fan is a Patton U2-20, will explore more later tonite hopefully, thanks again!
