I need some help id'ng a couple items I have purchased. I got a decent deal on a box full of tools and want some info on them. I'm sure you tool junkies can help me out, thanks in advance for any info provided.

So, here's the first one. It says Penenscorp on it, made in USA, standard 3" 3/8 extension.

Next up, a Wright 1/2 extension, very good shape. I'm really interested in the year on this, seems a little old, but still good of course.

Now, a Williams 3/8 drive ratchet, has b-52 stamped on it, a little rough around the edges, but still works very well, i'm also interested in year on this, or rough idea anyway.

And next up, I have a 1/4 drive ratchet, and it has no marks anywhere on it, maybe an s-k ratchet? I have no idea on this one, need some help id'ng this one as i'm at a stop on it.

And lastly, I got a Proto Challenger breaker bar in the bunch, 1/2 drive, shorter handle, i'm interested in the year on this also, or again, rough idea of year, doesn't have to be exact. It's a little beat up, but that means it got used, and i'm ok with that.

Wow! That link is great! Thanks Nate, I have now found a reason to stay up late tonight, and possibly ditch work tomorrow lmao.

Most tool manufacturers made the same style tool for a good number of years. Sometimes you can determine the approximate age from a change in underlining, letter size, use of abbreviations, etc, but for the most part, its very difficult to nearly impossible to date tools beyond something like "mid 1960's to 1980's" or something like that. Snap on and its subs such as Blue Point and Williams used date codes, but even then, its not always there, sometimes they didn't mark the date code.

Penens was an independent tool company bought up by Proto and operated as Penens for a while and finally merged into Proto completely. You will frequently find Penens and Proto tools that are identical except for the markings.

Alloy Artifacts has lots of info on Plumb, Proto and Penens.

I'm really interested in the 1/4 drive ratchet. Seems durable, fine tooth, and a metal selector. Could be an el cheapo, but then again maybe not.
