Need Some help with a Nest T stat.

The wife and I own a house that is unoccupied. I want to go with a T-stat's that we can check temp at that house when not there (there is wifi currently).
What I am finding is that Nest T- stats want a common or "C" wire so t-stat always has 24v power to it.
My heating system is an oil fired hydronic (hot water baseboard) sytem that has a Argo 4 zone switching relay (3 heating 1 priority hot water zone). It has locations for red and white wires currently from t-stats but nothing for a "C" wire.

Any ideas how to go about feeding this? Is there a switching relay that would have red white and black common? Even looking at Taco can't find one with this option for 3 wire?

Or is there an easier way to monitor house temps off wifi perhaps a better way?

Take a look at security system hardware to see what is

available. I should think you would want to have fire

protection as well as cold temperature monitoring. Not

to mention intruder alert.

Thanks not worried at this point about a break in (mostly if heat goes out). Selling this house come spring.

Look at Bayweb. If you can find a deal on eBay like I did it's a bargain. You can monitor the temp and motion - poor man's security system. I have the one in my shop set to turn the heat down after I leave if it does not sense any motion after an hour and send me an email if it does.

why can't you just get a plugin 24volt transformer & run the two wires to "R" and "C" on the stat?

Install a fast stat. Then wire in the nest.

If your just looking to MONITOR temps

$100 - gives you 3 sensors and the bridge so that you can pull up a page on the internet or an app on your phone. You can also set up the sensors to send email alerts

think this is the easiest and best solution.... if you can't find the common of the secondary side of the 24V AC transformer or the transformer don't have enough VA to drive more devices.....

I love my Nest - it works great. Originally I sent a picture of my old stat to nest and a few hours later they contacted me back with the setup. I later realized i needed some programming help, contacted them and they walked me through the slight change. They were great.

Thats my recommendation - give them a call and see what they say.
