Hope this isn't to off topic, but I found a really cool, early 60's trike. I'm posting the only pic I've got of it, (right side of pic) sorry it's not a close-up. Looks to me like it might have been either a Police or Ice Cream trike, emulatting a Harley. Any info would be great.

Thanks guys.

I had one of those, when I was a kid (5). My brother had a white one and I had the blue one. Think there was also a red one as well, not sure if they were part of a series, ie; police, fire, ambulance, ice cream etc. The year was 1968, what makes them different to todays trikes, is these have little oil caps on the axles, that you have to flip open every once in awhile and squirt a few drops down to keep everything moving. I can still remember grabbing the ol mans oil can and squirting everything in sight without actually oiling my ride.

It looks like an early 1960's vintage Evan's "police" trike. I think it is made of Aluminium.

The company was based in Michigan, but I think they have been out of business for a long time now.

Looks like a copy of a Harley service trike used by meter maids, ice cream vendors, package delivery services, etc. Very cool!

Following is a quote from this site - http://www.tricyclefetish.com/blog/category/tricycle-questions/unknown-tricycles/
There is a photo there also.

"A: Your tricycle is a circa 1960 Evans Police tricycle. You can find a bit more info on Evans tricycles on our Evans manufacturer page.

As far as getting it restored…it all depends on how much the tricycle means to you. The condition that it is in would not be worth restoring it to try to sell and make a profit, because the restoration would cost more than the tricycle was worth. If you want the tricycle to be restored for nostalgic reasons you’ll likely spend quite a bit of money, but it would look like new once you were done.

We have a couple of individuals listed on our Tricycle Services page that do tricycle restorations. You might also have luck with general bicycle or pedal car restorers. There are more people that do those than specifically tricycles. If you are looking for a way to make it look better without spending a fortune, there are things you can do yourself that will make it look much better. There are some tips in this article about refurbishing."

I wonder how much American Restorations would charge to do something like that? :shocking:

What's all this talk about expensive to restore? Christ....it's a tricycle. A handful of sand paper and a couple cans of paint, maybe some new wheels and it will look like new! Why does everything have to be such a big deal and so *Expensive* ????

Thanks Cryptic1911.

Nope, I'm not a spammer just trying to pass along some information I thought the OP would be interested in.

I'll admit that the site name might look a little suspicious at first glance but I would have thought that the quote would have clarified what it was about. I just posted the link in case he wanted to see where the information came from.

Hey there mmhouse. We weren't talkin bout you. Your link did help with ID. There was another responce in the thread that had to do with some B.S. about loans and money or something, that the Mods have since gotten rid of.

Thanks for your input.
