This is one time where bigger is truly better. First, 8' garage doors are too narrow. I have 8'ers on my barn and continually wish I had gone with 9'. I have an oversized 3 car garage plus a 1200 sq ft barn / shop and still wish I had more room. Everything was great until my son decided to get bit by the car bug. He has a 72 bronco and a 64 Falcon Sprint stored in my barn / shop plus all of his parts, fenders, wheels, etc. Then, my daughter decided to move back in and all her stuff is in there. So, think ahead 10 years like one of the guys said. You need enough floor space for car storage plus lots of wall and loft space for stuff storage.

I don't really like the look of garage doors facing the street so here's my 2 cents. Turn the garage addition but leave the doors on the 32' side and route the driveway in from the side. Do you need a variance if your driveway encroaches on the 30' rule? If not then you are good to go.

Thanks a lot for sharing some wonderful suggestions, but dont you think a 32' sides would just be to much, sticking with a 30' side is a much better option....

I've been talking with the contractors, and we are going with 9' doors instead of 8', and will most likely be doing 26x32 instead of 24x32...

Already met with the excavator, concrete, & electrician... Meeting with the plumber on saturday, then I can get the heart attack enducing quote...
