First of all, this box has been used well. It looks like it might have been mishandled a couple times, but I can see the potential in it. There is a few issues.

The lg left deep bottom drawer is banged up on the front. How can I repair or replace this..

The glides/rails on about half of the drawers are not smooth, one for sure is bent and missing the ball bearings. Can these be warrentied if I am not the original owner.

I am including a pic of the stamp on back, what yr is my box, I am guessing 1993.

Paint! I have a coworker with a established powdercoat shop, instead of paint can I powdercoat this box, I think it will be more durable and look awsome. Can this or has this been done. Also is it worth it.

Finally, what is recommended for a top, I would like a SS top but I have no idea the cost on that. I really don't want to invest more then its value.

How should I go about geeting the slides warrentied, through the local truck I will have to track down or customer service online. Do I just take the parts to the truck and let him order them or what. My only experiance with a truck guy was short/abrubt and not helpful.

Call up Snap-on for the slides. The rest? Hammer and dolly out the drawer as best as you can and use the box. To powder coat it, you would need to blast and then coat. That will cost more than the box is worth unless everything except the powder is free. That includes all labor, blasting. prep materials given as a freebie.

If you can do that, it would be worth it (buying the powder only) but be aware that you have as much surface area to coat as a LARGE car. Best case? Clean it up, put a hardwood or stainless top on it and use it. That box has a nice patina and looks like a working mans box.

A quick "make it look good fix" would be paint the outside and the top surface of the drawer handle and the left and right outside of the drawers (what you see with the drawers open) with some good paint and then spray the inside of the drawers with black bedliner paint.

I think it looks good as is, if you just straighten out the sheet metal a little bit. The aging on it gives character :)

The cost to make this box look "like new" would exceed it's value IMHO.

However I think you can make some substantial improvements.

If you can't straighten that one drawer then buy one from SO along with a can of genuine SO touch up paint.

Now that you're a customer in the SO system, they may be more lenient in providing you some drawer slides. (rumor has it they are cracking down and enforcing the original owner warranty clause). Let us know how you make out.

Go to Ikea and get a butcher block top. If you really want SS it'll be expensive but maybe you could get a sheet from a metal fabrication shop.

Get some drawer liners on Ebay.

Touch up only the worst areas with SO touch up paint. Now use a good automotive cleaner/polish on the entire box. This will actually remove a ton of blemishes and make it look substantially better.

Thanks guys for you comments. I have removed all the drawers and guides and going to thouroghly clean the box inside and out. My friend is going to straighten and powerder coat the drawers and I am going to buff/polish the box as a whole.

Only dissassembly issue I had was with the original Grab Handle on the box(has a leather grip and metal endcaps). I could not figure out how to remove the handle so I can clean it up/polish it.

Thanks again.
