If you have more information (model number on sticker possibly), then that would be helpful. However, it does appear to be a three cylinder, so it probably kicks out a decent amount of air. Most likely it will be enough to run any air tool that you want since any similar model I found kicks out about double the requirement for an impact or about 15 CFM.

You will want to check that:
-There is oil in the system (to make sure it wasn't run dry),
-The tank can hold its air pressure
-It can run without making any strange knocking noises or other problems.
-The regulator will adjust pressure accordingly (crank it up to 90, and then adjust to 50 and listen for the air to release and then stop)
-The wiring looks good, and there isn't any hack job repairs

You may want to wait until some other guys on here chime in, but if it works good I think that if you could get it for around 150 that would be a decent deal. $100 would be great.

Looks to be a mfg tag on the tank that has been painted over. Probably get the tank mfg date off of that, max psi (a 300psi tank is much heavier duty than a 200psi tank) and whether or not it was asme certified. There will also likely be a data plate on the electric motor where you can get if it is 1 or 3 phase, horsepower and rotational speed. Those two sources of information can give you the age and likely country of origin as well. I'm not familiar enough with compressor manufacturers to hazard a guess at the manufacturer of the compressor but perhaps someone else can point you in the right direction. Since the current owner claims to know nothing about it, don't risk much money--I agree that $100 would probably be ok if the paint doesn't appear to be hiding too much.

Looks like an old school Dayton Speedaire. I used to have one and it looked the same ,even had those same plugs on the tank.

How many hp(motor) and it's three phase. It looks similiar to an Ingersoll Rand but not exactly.

The one that I had was 3HP and single phase/single stage 30 gallon. It was made by Campbell Hausfeld for Dayton, I think they also made a 10HP 3 phase that looked the same.

Going to go take a look at it Sunday afternoon, the owner says it works but has absolutely no clue about condition etc. Not sure what to offer him without looking at it, will let you guys know.

That looks big, find out for sure what phase it is. Big horizontal units like that are almost always 3 phase.
