You might be pushing it on the gap you left on the sides of the flange. Most toilets aren't much wider than where the flange bolt go in. I think you might be on the verge of having an issue.

Thanks guys...got it all laid today...I'll grout tomorrow and post pics. It definitely did not go as smoothly as I would have had liked...but I guess I'll just chalk it up as a learning experience.

As far as the flange gap...well shoot...I guess it's a wait and see...but I'll be losing sleep in the meantime lol...thanks;)

I went back and looked at the first pic which shows where the original wax ring was...I think I'll be fine this time. Next time I'll cut it closer though...

Ok...she's done.

I am super disappointed with myself though. One of the tiles has a hollow spot...aaaagghhh. I know exactly why it happened too which is even more frustrating. I looked into some type of injection ...but I feel like I just need to rip it out and redo it. Is there a fast setting thin-set that I can buy in small quantities to accomplish this?

With that being said, I didn't have anything to lose by following through with grouting, so I went ahead with it.

Oh...and I measured the flange hole I cut and it's just shy of 8.5 so I should be good. I won't fully relax though until the toilet arrives.

Looks GREAT!

Where's the hollow spot? If its not in the main walking path it may not be a problem. See what happens over time. Its not like you are backing your 4x4 over it! If its near the edge, FUGHEDABOUDIT! If its only a partial tile hollow, it may never crack.

More updated pics.

I'm as done as I can be right now...the toilet I ordered hasn't arrived, so I had to put back their old one. It is tiny, but as you can see, it covered my hole....barely lol. The new one is listed as being wider so I'm safe.

The hollow sounding tile has improved somehow...it still has a hollow section right on the edge, and in the middle of the 24" side...but it should be fine for awhile. If they go out of town for a few days I may replace down the road with the same thin-set I used on the rest of the floor.

There were a bunch of little things I learned along the way of this project that hopefully will aid me in my next go'round...although hopefully not too soon.

BIG THANK YOU to you guys for helping with advice along the way!

sorry for the sideways pic

Baseboard caulked, but not painted...hence the waviness of the wall line

Just realized I didn't get a good pic of the faucet or sink...imagine "nice looking"

Again sideways...I guess GJ doesn't like landscape pics. This is the new fan and light I installed (wet rated light on gfci). These two things took longer than the floor. The old fan had no ducting...zero...none. It was just open and buried in insulation. I had to cut a hole in the roof and install a vent with insulated ducting. And the light...jeebus...the ceiling had a double layer of drywall which the remodel can wouldn't accept. So after a bunch of work I had to cut out a section of ceiling and then spent forever trying to match the smooth finish.

Caulk between tile and shower pan. I had a great tape line going..it was perfect...and then the ****** caulking that Bath Fitters uses failed miserably...so I had to scrape it out and redo it.

Wow that is FABULOUS work !!!

It's likely superior than what a paid contractor "expert" would have done.

Great result !!

Thanks for the compliments guys...they are greatly appreciated. While I can't say if it turned out better than an "expert's" work...I can say it's not for lack of trying.

As far as the pics not showing up...I don't know why...apparently they showed up for some people???
