I am looking for suggestions on how to make a sign for my garage. Basically I'm trying to figure out what material to make it out of. :headscrat

Here are some of the ideas I've come up with:

- Take piece of wood and routing out the letters
- Having a sign made with vinyl letters at a local sign shop (like a banner)
- Take piece of wood and painting the letters

I want it to look nice because this is going to be the name of my garage so it will be displayed prominently in the garage (I don't want to reveal the name until the sign is done!).

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Doug

PS The sign is going to be about 25 letters long

Go over to the HAMB. Their are a lot of great artists on the friday art show. Their work will blow you away and its all car related.
I would hire one to make me somthing really cool.

My sister made me one. It's an old wood cabinet door (I think), distressed, and it's got the name of my garage painted on the front. Probably about 3 foot long. Looks cool.

She makes these on the side for people.

Find a metal guy that does custom signage with a computer based plasma cutter. You can use pretty much design what you want and then take him the file and tell him what size you want it.

I did this for some detailed inserts for my wrought iron gate at the front of my property.

These are a couple of signs I made.
They are both based on 40 inch metal patio table tops.
One (the foothills disk) is steel, the other (race Gas) is MDF.
The "Foothills" word is cut froma sheet of mdf and it's edges routered round.
I made them after finding a couple tables being thrown out by a neighbour.
The tops were easy to work with and I especially like the formed round edge on the steel table top.

I drew my image in pencil and then painted afterward with enamel.
