It's 36' wide by 40' long with 3 bays in the 36' front. I think I'll install a lift at some point in one or more of the bays so I know I don't want lights directly over the bays but rather on the sides. I will probably use 30' of the length for my car collection and the remaining 10' for general shop use, including some light woodworking so that lighting will be task specific pretty much. The heigth will be 12' 6" over the first 24' for lift use and tapering down with a sloping roof to 9' at the rear (or wood shop area).
I think that T8 florescent fixtures will serve my purpose pretty well and inexpensively also.
What would y'all recommend as the best spacing between the bays? How many lights? I won't be doing a lot of mechanic work at all in that area but at my age, I do need good lighting and I would like my collection to be visible without breaking the proverbial bank. I would like suggestions as to the best setup given this information please.
Thanks in advance!!

I'm thinking about using 4 - 4 light T-8 fixtures on each side of the middle bay which should light both sides of the middle bay plus one side of the end bays and, additionally, 4 - 2 light T-8 fixtures on the wall sides to light the other sides of the end bays and about 3 or 4 2 light fixtures along the back wall where my wood working and shop benches will be.
Thoughts on this setup?
With a 12' 6" ceiling in the main garage area, should I suspend the fixtures a foot or two for better lighting inside the bays?
I would appreciate any comments and suggestions.
Thanks
