I've got an older Craftsman router. Years ago I had built a wooden router table. It had an adjustable fence that I held in place with C clamps. my router was held in place upside down with longer machine screws through the base plate.

I got the plans for it out of some woodworking magazine.

I could probably build one from memory and guess but I was wondering if anyone had any comments or suggestions.

I'll use it for small woodworking projects.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

find an old laminate counter on craigslist, cut it down and build your table, the laminate makes a nice surface to slide material on

I use one I bilt a while ago. Made it out of 3/4" plywood for the box and used MDF for the top. Used longer screws countersunk from the top. Wired up a switched outlet on the front to turn the router on and off.

I made a fence to use at first but ended up buying one of these, http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=21306&site=ROCKLER. Think I got it for around 30 bucks and it works great. I still just clamp it to the table top.

Has worked for me for the last few years.

do you have a table saw? if so if its a larger stand alone model you can build the router table into the side rails of the table saw and use the table saw fence (with the addition of a small home built add on) for your router table and you will know its nice and square.

Something like this http://www.finewoodworking.com/item/31173/free-plan-tablesawrouter-combo sorry im to lazy to look up a free article right now but you get the idea. any piece of high quality mdf will work for the top. heck if you can get your hands on an old tabletop or couter from a fast food resturant thats not to beat up or warped they will work great and the wood will glide acrost it like ice.
