Well my old Craftsman oil free 60 gal compressor finally died last night. In a way I'm glad, tired of listening to that noisey POS lol but not the best of timing money wise but that's how stuff normally goes for me.

I'm looking at 3 different Ingersol Rand compressors, big deciding factor for me is the size (actual dimensions). The three I'm looking at the specs show 48 x 40 x76, I have a hard time believing that because one of them is a 60 gal and the other two are 80 gal.

Anyone actually own one of these ? Can you possibly get measurements for me ?

I sat on hold with IR customer support for 30 minutes today and got cut off, never talked to anyone. I sent them an email this morning and haven't gotten a reply yet.

This is the T-30 60 gal.

This is the T-30 80 gal.

Those measurements are PALLET size for shipping (thus 48" x 40" pallet).

Why are you looking only at IR compressors??

Did you research all the recent GJ threads on compressors??

The only thing I saw was the issue with the tank weld leaking.

I'm open to different options besides IR for sure. I just looked at the Quincy that b-body-bob posted the link to. I will call my local Northern tool and see if they actually have one in stock in the morning, I forsee a big blue compressor sitting in my shop tomorrow afternoon. :)

Well I bought the Quncy Model: 2V41C60VC 5hp 60 gal compressor today. Nobody had them in stock and had to order it so I did some shopping online and found it at Air Compressor's Direct for $120 cheaper because there is no sales tax or shipping cost. :)

So I'm looking for a regulator, the spec's on the compressor say 175 psi max.
Is this compressor actually set up from the factory with 175psi tank pressure ?
All of the 1/2 regulators I've found are 125-140 psi inlet pressure rated, any ideal where to get a reg that has a higher inlet working pressure? Or should I adjust the cut-off switch on the compressor down to 140-150psi ?

Good deal on saving even more money.

That's weird, I bought a cheap regulator at home depot to get me by until I decide what I really want to do with my air line setup, and the fine print says it's rated for 350 psi input IIRC.

Maybe try looking here http://zorotools.com/

i was set on a bel aire unit and scored an old kellogg 331 on craigs. you can get a 2 stage bel aire for around a grand delivered. its a great piece for the money, IMO. what i was going to buy. i read and identified that the harbor freight compressor is indeed a a bellaire bump and AO motor. cheaper switch, gauges, and a diff tank, but they are always on sale for 799 and you can get a warranty.

quincy for sure if you wanted to go the next step up.

Try to get a two stage compressor it will last longer. Mainly, stay the Hell away from "Oil less" Ken.

Crapsman 60 gal oil less is what I had that came apart on me a couple nights ago, it slung plastic & chunks of aluminum all over the place.

I bought the Quincy 60 gal 5hp two stage today, should be the last compressor I have to buy. :)

even the craftsman oiled units have the least life pumps out there. their 60 gallon unit has an 800 hour pump. even a cheap cambell or kobalt i believe is 5000 hours. a quincy or similar are 10,000. 800 is a lot of hours of run time, but for a few bucks more have the piece of mind, and a better piece of equipment.

My new Quincey 60 gal compressor finally showed up, picked it up yesterday. They do a heck of a job crating them. I built a backet to mount a new regulator & dryer on this afternoon, will be pulling new wire for it tomorrow and hopefully have it up & running.

I made a bracket to mount the Regulator & dryer right on the front of the compressor. Got it wired up and running today, Wow is this thing wayyyy quieter than my old Cman 60 gal oil free.
The quick connect on the dryer outlet is temp, I will be installing a 1" SS tubing header in the shop next week. :)
