Need to Clean OSB Before Painting?

Hi All,

I am getting ready to put up 7/16 OSB on my shop walls this weekend. My plan is to prime the OSB with original Kilz then top coat with latex paint.

My question is... Do I need to clean the OSB before applying the primer? If so, what should I use?

No, unless it's dirt. Brush off or vacuum the dust/sawdust.

Use your leaf blower and blow the dust off. it works great!

Just sweep, vacuum or blow any loose dirt and dust off the panels.

OSB, in new construction is typically nailed up without preparation..
