I want to heat my building. It has 1" foam insulation. Primarily want to keep it above freezing so I don't need to winterize my RV. Winters are not that cold. Only a few sub zero nights with mostly lows around 15-25.

I have propane close and would prefer a forced air and possibly sealed burner. Might want to quickly heat it for working on vehicles. Will have a lift soon. What BTU should I be looking at and good brands for mostly self install.

Where are you located ? Going to be a big difference between Florida and Maine. My business is 30x60x16 but it is in the middle of a row of warehouses and the roof has about 6" of foam insulation. I have a single Modine 170K Input BTU hanging heater. It does the job just fine but I also keep the place heated 24/7 I was actually just cleaning it on Friday since it will probably start being needed in the next week or so.

If you do some google searching there are plenty of online heating calculators.

That's not much insulation. Are you planning to improve that? How much in the ceiling?

Not enough info to answer.

I'm in north Oklahoma. It's a Morton Building with their typical insulation package. Same walls and ceiling. I know it's not much and I might add to it some day. For now I just want to heat it enough to keep the RV from freezing. I don't think we had many really cold nights over the last few years.

Looking at online calculators it seems about 120k btu will probably handle the job. I could always add more insulation or another heater once I see how the first performs.

Mine is 28x54x15 with leaky rollup doors and a bunch of windows. I called the Beacon Morris guys and they suggested the 120K. I have the concentric vent kit so it pulls fresh air from outside.

I just finished the install last week so I haven't used it yet but I expect it will do the job. Here is my install - https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=368862&referrerid=214414

One thing to note, most of the heaters don't recommenced running them to maintain temps lower than 50 degrees. I only plan to use mine when I'm going to work out there.

My building is 36x48 with 12' sidewalls, also standard insulation package. Last week I installed a Modine HD100 (100k but) propane heater. It was 36 degrees outside yesterday morning. With the thermostat set on 60 degrees, the heater ran about 20-30 minutes. I'm located in southwest Missouri. I'm very pleased, the true test will be when the temp drops and stays for several days.
But, so far so good.

What size tank do you have for the LP?

Hey,
A few years ago ,I ran across a super deal on some propane tanks. I already had a 500gal, so I bought one of their 1000gal tanks and linked/insolated them together. I can now go about a 1-1/2 years without buying propane. I've got a propane company that keeps me informed about pricing.
Anyway long story short, I tapped into that system for my shop.
