Hi everyone. Construction on our garage is in full swing and I need to order the lighting. I am going with 4' T8 fixtures (Lithonia) but don't know how many to order. The garage is 23' wide by 32' feet long. Ceiling height is 12'. The garage will be fully finished and painted white.

What kind of spacing should I be looking at? The garage has a lift in it and I do my own work so I want it BRIGHT!!!!!

I installed (9) 4-bulb 4' T8 units in our garage with similar dimensions & 11' ceilings. Are you going to be painting in there as well? 12 wouldn't hurt anything. Different bulbs will have somewhat different lumen output so don't skimp there or on CRI (color rendering index - I like 85). I have 6 on one switch & 3 on another switch.

We are painting the whole garage. Lower part (bottom ~4') will be bavarian blue (see sig :D) and the upper part will be white.

I am planning on putting half on one switch the other half on another switch. You only need the crazy bright when working on cars...

My garage is 24 X 32 with 8 foot ceilings that are painted white. The walls are more of a clay color. I have 8 Lithonia T8 units that each have four 4' bulbs - each unit is 8' long. It is what I would call very good light but it wouldn't hurt to have more.
