I only use my 1.4V Milwaukee that is over 10 years old. I have replaced the batteries once, and works great. My good friends have Ryobi and Makita, which do not seem to hold up or have much power. Have not used the DeWalt ones, although a contractor where we used to live swears by them and has a whole bunch.

The Milwaukee was not cheap by any means, but just keeps going, I'll buy another one when it dies.

Thanks for the advice guys, now I really am lost, lol.
I have the corded chicago electric drill (similar to the hf hammer drill posted on here). It replaced my blue cordless pos ryobi 5 years ago. I've used it to mix countless bags of cement, install the rollbar in the miata, clean up multiple headlights with a foam wheel, and drive numerouse drywall screws in the new house. Best $15 I've ever spent on a tool. Unfortunantly its been abused a bit too much, the reverse switch broke last time I knocked it off the ladder. All my other tools, including my impact driver are corded, but I am really tempted by cordless for the drill.

I'm not doing anything super heavy duty with it, but would like something rugged that will last.

Well, decision made. My parents bought me the Lithium ion 18v Ryobi One+ Drill for my birthday. Used it to assemble a few things today, and to mend the latch on the neighbor's fence, and so far I love it. It has plenty of grunt, isn't too heavy and came with 2 batteries and the charger. Time will tell how these batteries hold up.
