Needing Cabinet door pull ideas and paint

Just put up some cabinets and love the clean look and was needing some ideas on what to use for door pulls? I read on here, but cant find it again about using some metal on the edges or something like that to open the doors . Anyone know what I am referring to?
Here's a pic, I took it over my car, so that's the reflection on my roof,
I will be putting some under these as well.







Will be painting them, but as you can see from the left corner I have sheet rock that looks like paneling through out my garage. I will either paint them to coordinate with that or paint the whole garage white and the cabinets would be Black Hammered Enamel (rust-oleum) rolled on, and the doors would be Gray.
Definitely would be easier to coordinate them to match.
Just can't decide, what does everyone think?

Anyone ever painted this sheetrock paneling? Tips?
The seams are not taped or mudded like normal sheetrock. And I would not do that to paint it. Just to much work that I am not willing to do at this time. So, with that said , I wonder if the joints would stand out and look bad?

I have NEVER seen sheetrock paneling.

As for color....I personally wouldn't want my cabinets to be the same color as the walls.
I would suggest painting the walls a light color...(lite gray?). It will reflect light a LOT better and improve the lighting in the garage without increasing your actual lighting.

As for pulls? Go to HD and pick up what ever is cheap and you like the look of.

Or, just use a big *** bolt.

If you like the smooth look without pulls, just lower the doors below the base of the cabinet and use the extended bottom lip as a pull. I open my 7 ft high cabs with the toe of my foot so I don't need any pulls. Or, you can use touch latches. These are spring loaded latches that hold the door closed but when you press on the door, it unlatches and springs outward a few inches so you can grab it with your fingers and open it completely.

I like it simple. These are brushed chrome and a lot cheaper that an actual knob/pull at the time. EVERYTHING out there is made for a kitchen or a bath and my spaces is....neither.

I was considering making some pulls until I looked at the prices on ebay. Simple pulls in quantities of 10-20 come out pretty inexpensive versus what I was seeing at the home improvement places. I ended up buying some like these in a couple different sizes:

The quality was good enough for me. None of them had boogered welds or other obvious flaws. If I would have made them myself they would have been heavier, but I've had no issues with them in the last two years.

Mudding and finishing the Sheetrock will definitely make the garage/shop more energy efficient.

As far as door pulls, I think it looks cleaner with none, just cut a finger area into the edge, just my opinion, that's how mine are and same with my kitchen.

The problem with pulls is they require putting holes in the cabinet which then makes it impossible to change pulls later on, without filling holes and it just is a pain.

+1 on the touch or push to open latches. I have these on some interior IKEA cabinets in basement and we love them. There just from ikea so I bet you can buy them there for next to nothing and they are able to be installed on anything, not just IKEA furniture.

Yes, I have over 300,00 on my Chrysler 300. That's what the frames are for. Chrysler gives them to you for every 100K



See my dilemma, there are seams / joints, you just cant see them since they blend in, I am afraid that if I paint the walls white they would stick out like a sore thump. And then there is the door, do I paint it white also? Just don't know. If I could do something with the cabinets without painting the garage that would be great.

Anything from a simple wood knob to custom made cabinet knobs is seen here from time to time. My locker at work I made some handles from some cheap 12mm wrenches. I welded some stand offs on them and bolted them from the back side.

I went a different route on the door pulls on a pair of my cabinets.

I built this cabinet and used lug nuts:

I used old sockets for cabinet doors and pos swap meet wrenches for drawer pulls. Put a 1/2” nylon bushing behind the wrench and ran a bolt thru it.

I've used liquid deglosser on paneling then mudded the joints and put a heavy primer on it and painted. That was years ago so I have no clue what it looks like today. Cabinets turned out nice.
