Needle Nose Pliers for Tackle Box - Recommendations

I have a set of Klein needle nose pliers in my tackle box. My dad gave them to me out of his tackle box.

My kids are younger and need a set each and they need to be cheap but work. Otherwise, my Klein's are going to disappear.

Several of the cheaper sets don't cut very well. I need to be able to clip 2lb fishing line and up.

Recommendations? $10 or less is what I'm looking for. Harbor Freight?

HF should be more than good enough imo. As for me, I have a 'Dollar Store' Tool Bench brand pair in both my tackle box and my wrecking yard tool box.

Walmart is Menards. Sub $3 pliers so when you drop them down the ice fishing hole, you only lose $3. Been there, done that, only buy cheap pliers.

these Osbornes are nice. REALLY aggressive teeth on the jaws, but no cutter!

I have a pair of fingernail clippers attached to a retracting tether in my little tackle bag. Works slick.
Still find myself needing to carry the pliers, even though I do not use lead sinkers any more - just the lure.
(Yes, it catches fish.)

I just remembered the other reason I have to carry those pliers - to pinch down the barbs on the hooks.
Most all the rivers here are "catch-and-release, lures and flies only, single hook only, barbless hook only"

If you want something fairly "rust proof" on the cheap:
You can have cheap "rust proof" pliers, but they don't have cutters-

search "Orthodontic pliers" on Ebay - there's a gazillion different kinds. Most are made in China or Pakistan now.
I have a pair of German-made ones - almost a "needle nose" - but they're heavier than those in the photo above. When you're carrying a pack, grams matter.

P-Line makes some aluminum ones with a cutter for around $18. No worry about rust, the cutter cuts braid and mono well, and they have a carry case and clip on leash.

Go to Walmart and buy those Hyper Tough ones for like a dollar something a set. I talk to people all the time in the tool isle that are getting them for their tackle boxes lol.

I was going to mention Leatherman Supertool, until I saw the price limit. At any rate, a good Leatherman tool is not going to let you down.

Medical forceps are the best.

Straight and curved. Not the tiny ones...the heavy ones!!!

I have a pair of stainless steel Horrible Fright fishermans pliers in my toolbox. I use them all the time for all manner of jobs.

Forceps work great for trout. They **** for real fish. OK, I fish for trout too and I use forceps when I do. But I live on a lake with fish up to 60 pounds and for this lake I don't even have forceps in the box.

I'm also talking about real forceps. Big forceps but much more user control than needle nose.

Perhaps the ones from the game operation might suit for trout.
